Recently I was inspired by a blog post by Gretchen Rubin (author of “The Happiness Project” and “The Four Tendencies”) about her twelve “personal commandments” to write my own set of personal commandments. They are just a short list of words or sayings that demonstrate your core values and things you want to remind yourself of often. For me, it is important to have these little sayings in my back pocket to remind me of what is important and keep my feet on the ground. Here is my own personal list of commandments. Disclosure: some of them may not make sense to you because they are personal sayings/jokes that I have with myself.
- Be here now
- It’s ok, you’re ok
- Keep going, keep growing
- Gratitude is the attitude
- Breath
- Better watch out, going for the knockout
- Create and innovate
- Be Peaceful, Patient, Positive, Productive
- Do what you love
- Dance in Nature
- Go place, do things
- Love always
- Optimism now
I encourage you to grab a pen and paper and write down your own set of commandments. Make it physical and put it somewhere you will see it often. You can even make a fun project out of it. Use some cute paper, glitter pens, or draw a collage of pictures for each commandment. It’s essential to have a list of things to remind you what’s important to you, and you might as well have fun in the process. Much love<3 ~Bella
